Message from the Editor-in-Chief

It is with great pleasure and a deep sense of responsibility that I assume the role of Editor-in-Chief of the Indian Journal of Marketing (IJM). I am grateful to the publisher's leadership — and in particular to the Managing Editor, Ms. Priyanka Gilani — for their confidence in my appointment.

I also wish to acknowledge the immense contributions of my predecessor, Mrs. Satya Gilani, whose dedication and stewardship over many years have laid a strong foundation upon which we now build. Her commitment to editorial excellence has shaped IJM into the respected scholarly publication it is today.

The Indian Journal of Marketing has been a trusted platform for marketing scholarship since 1968. As we move forward, my priority will be to enhance the journal's global visibility, citation impact, and scholarly reputation. Over the next two to three years, I am committed to achieving the following:

  • Improving IJM's CiteScore and Scopus ranking through rigorous quality control and wider international reach.
  • Pursuing Web of Science (WoS) indexing to expand the journal's international recognition.
  • Working towards elevating IJM's rating from ABDC-C to ABDC-B.
  • Expanding the journal's global readership and author base, particularly from leading research institutions worldwide.
  • Implementing a year-round submission window to reduce publication delays and facilitate faster peer reviews.

In terms of research focus, IJM will continue to prioritise methodologically rigorous work. Our focus will be on publishing research based on sound quantitative methods — including survey research and experimental research — while also welcoming systematic literature reviews, meta-analyses, qualitative studies, and multi-method approaches that demonstrate scholarly rigour and meaningful contribution to the field.

The editorial board is being refreshed to include distinguished scholars from leading institutions across the world, who share our commitment to advancing the quality and impact of marketing research.

I warmly invite researchers, academics, and practitioners to submit their best work to IJM. Together, we can strengthen IJM's standing as one of India's foremost scholarly journals in marketing and elevate its recognition on the global stage.

With warm regards,

Prof. (Dr.) Nirmalya Bandyopadhyay
